Class Update and New Favorites

Smocked Insert Class

The Smocked Insert Class will be this Monday night, July 1, 6-8PM.  If you would like to take the class you may, you still have time to sign up. However, you MUST have your insert completely smocked by Monday night, including the backsmocking. Below are some examples of inserts I have completed in the past, including one in the process of being put into a garment.

 

When you come to class, remember to bring your sewing machine, all feet to go with you machine, t-shirt, piping (already made), completed insert, and thread to match color of t-shirt. If you already have a large see-through ruler (quilter's rule), wonder tape, and blue washable marker, bring them.  If not, we will have them ready for you to purchase at the shop.

 

 

 

New Children's Corner Pattern!

 

 

 Parker’s Pants is a versatile pants pattern for both boys and girls. The pants are slim with a slightly tapered leg and have an elastic waist. Separate patterns are enclosed for Pants, Capris, Long Shorts, and Shorts. Instructions and patterns for a cargo pocket are included which can be added to the Pants, Capris, and Long Shorts. Parker is available is sizes 1-4 and 5-8.

The pattern includes wonderful instruction on attaching ruffles and how to adjust a pattern.  I am currently using this to make my sweet boy some shorts for school. I will post a finished pair next week. They are a little longer length, I think, and they are slim. I have a skinny little guy so that isn't a problem. The elastic measurement seems to be right on. :)

Old Fashioned Baby Dress Class Project

When: February 22^_23, 2013

Time: 9:30-4:30 (Lunch time included)

Lunch and Snacks will be provided

Area of Study: Fine Hand sewing

Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced because you will need: have some embroidery experience in order to learn the hemstitching and bullion stitch, layout a pattern on fabric, mark it and cut it out, con­struct the dress at home using a sewing machine and the pattern instructions

Cost: $300 for two day session plus Daygown kit fee of $67.50. Kit includes Ulster Linen fabric, all Laces, needles, floss, entredeux and pearl buttons. It also includes her pattern Best Embroidered Baby Clothes One.

Students' Basic Sewing Supplies: 18” x 2” ruler, washout fabric marker or pencil, Cutting out and Embroidery Scissors, Lace Board , Magnification and lighting. Off white DMC #50 thread, off white #80 Madeira thread .
